Specialist Professor at the School of Management. He has an MA in Environmental Studies (Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies), took courses in Animal Biology (Jussieu Paris) and Tropical Ecology (Organización para Estudios Tropicales de Costa Rica), and completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Universidad de los Andes. He teaches the courses: Environmental Science, Global Environmental Change, and Climate Change Adaptation on the MA in Development Management Practice and Environmental Management, and an Organisational Sustainability course on the Executive MBA. He is currently a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystemic Services (IPBES), and the Urban Ecology Society.




Research interests

Ecosystems for environmental managers; landscape design; analysis of the compensation of ecosystemic services for the urban sector, of hydro energy and agriculture; biodiversity conservation; innovation in the design and management of protected areas; and science-policy interfaces. He has broad-ranging experience as a researcher and manager of non-governmental organizations, as well as public policy and institutional management of science policy.
