Profile

Associate Professor at the School of Management. He has a Ph.D. in Industrial Ecology from the Erasmus University, Netherlands, an MA in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, and a degree in Industrial Engineering from Hogeschool, Eindhoven, Netherlands). He is a visiting professor on the Cleaner Production, Industrial Ecology, and Sustainable Development doctoral programme at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Holland, and for the International Diploma in Environmental Management at the Escuela de Administración de Negocios (ESAN) in Lima Peru.

 

 

Research interests

These include the change in organization networks that seek to incorporate elements of environmental sustainability, for example sustainable supply chains; material cycle closing; and the spread of environmental culture for large, small, and medium-sized companies in emerging markets. His on-going research addresses the following: (i) going beyond collaboration in symbiotic industrial systems, (ii) sustainable acquisition in emerging markets, (iii) underlying theories for sustainable business models, and (iv) industrial ecology for managerial decision-making.

Applied experience

Director of the Sustainable Companies Programme (RedES) in Cundinamarca, Buenaventura, and Cúcuta; director of the Sustainable Agro-Business Model (MAS) in Puerto Carreño, Meta, and Buenaventura; Director of Environmental Performance at Ecopetrol (2016 – 2017); consultant for public institutions such as the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation in Mexico, the Panamanian Ministry of Finance ‘Compite Panamá’ program, and the Colombian Ministry of the Environment production and sustainable consumption policy. Consultant for private companies in sectors such as: the palm oil sector, the flower sector, the sugar cane sector, the food processing sector, and tanneries.
